Welcome to ORNAO
ORNAO is a volunteer association that represents perioperative registered nurses as direct care practitioners, administrators, educators, and/or researchers practicing perioperative nursing in the province of Ontario.

ORNAO represents Perioperative Nurses from 10 geographic regions across the province and the Registered Nurses First Assistant Interest Group (Ontario). Each region, interest group and elected executive, known as the Board, meet annually to conduct the business of the association.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
The Operating Room Nurses Association of Ontario (ORNAO) is an organization of professional registered nurses dedicated to the promotion of excellence in perioperative nursing in the immediate preoperative, intraoperative and the immediate postoperative periods of the patient's surgical experience.

The Association believes that perioperative nursing is a dynamic process guided by theoretical knowledge, ethical principles, research, caring practice and specialized clinical skills. Perioperative nurses respond to complex and changing needs of patients during a crucial period of the surgical experience. The scope of practice is continually evolving as nurses respond to societal and technological changes.
