Objectives: To be able to state three facts that underpin the rationale for the development of antibacterial sutures To describe what types of sutures are a risk factor for surgical site infection To become familiar with the evidence base supporting the efficacy of triclosan coated sutures in reducing SSI risk for patients. "Addressing SSI risk factors with Antibacterial Sutures" Dr. Liza Ovington (PhD, FACCWS, MWC) will present on the science supporting Ethicon Plus Antibacterial Sutures and the role they play in SSI reduction. Dr. Ovington holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Duke University. She is board certified in wound care by the American Board of Wound Management and is a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists.
