Marlene Griffin is a Registered Nurse with 25 years of Ophthalmology experience.  She has worked as a Registered Nurse for 45 years, more than 30 of those in the operating room. With a passion for ophthalmology and teaching, she found a perfect fit as a Nurse Consultant. Using her years of expertise, she has shared her knowledge with staff in Private Surgical Centers & public hospitals.

Working as a staff nurse at North York General Hospital a “High Volume Cataract Centre” allowed Marlene to follow her passion, of teaching the basics of Ophthalmology to new staff members, until her retirement from the hospital setting in 2019.

Marlene has spoken both Nationally and Internationally at Ophthalmic Conferences. She has volunteered for 3 Ophthalmic Surgical missions to the mountains of Nuevo Progresso, in Guatemala.

Marlene has been on the Executive of the National "Canadian Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses” (CSORN), for 3 terms, as well as the Executive of the GTA Chapter of CSORN.

North York General hospital awarded her the "Nursing Excellence" Award.

Travelling the world with her husband, has allowed Marlene to follow her second life passion of travel, having recently been to the Amazon. When not working or traveling Marlene spends her time at her cottage in Haliburton tending her perennial garden and enjoying her grandchildren.
