NOORNA
Hello! I’m from Sudbury in Northern Ontario. I completed my Nursing at College Boreal in Sudbury and was part of the very first graduating class from this new francophone community college in 1996. I started work in the Operating Room in 1998 and have never looked back. I completed the Operating Room course at Cambrian College in 1998. I became CPN (c) certified in 2021 and also completed an RNFA program in 2022. Perioperative Nursing is my life!
Health Sciences North is the trauma centre for the North, with that being said I have experience as a perioperative nurse in many specialties gyne, gen surg, plastics, ent, ortho and neuro. For the last 20 years, I have been the resource nurse for neurosurgery. In this role, I work closely with many disciplines to ensure the service has what it needs to run efficiently and effectively.
Over the years, I have attended numerous NOORNA conferences, many training sessions for specific equipment used in neurosurgery (spine instruments and Stealth navigation).
I am still very passionate about my job and am keen on expanding my leadership knowledge which led me to join the ORNAO board. I believe that if we know better we can do better.
